It's been a sad news cycle for the esports and gaming communities after reports broke on 25th August that former Gears of War and Fortnite pro, Chris "Xcells" Hill, had been killed. Chris "Xcells" Hill shot and killed

The former Ex Enigma6 Group player had not competed in a pro setting since the 2019 Fall League Qualifier 5 with ⁠Lux Gaming. But on Wednesday, 24th August 2022, it was reported that Hill (26) approached a man at a home along Virgil Goode Highway in Virginia before being shot and killed.

Police received a call about shots being fired at approximately 9:28 PM on Wednesday night. Authorities said “an encounter occurred” which resulted in Hill being shot and killed. At the time of writing, charges have yet to be filed according to WDBJ7, which cited an official sheriff’s office spokesperson in the report.
