In the latest hotfix for Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 2, plenty of items were unvaulted for the Battle Royale, and one of those includes the Air Strike. It's certainly been a while since this item was available in Fortnite, so it's easy to forget how they were obtained.
Considering how much power a simple Air Strike item can provide, finding them isn't common. They are considered a Legendary item, which places the previously vaulted object in the gold category. In other words, you'll definitely want to pick them up when you get the chance.
Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 2 - How to get an Air Strike
When items like the Air Strike are unvaulted in Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 2, the method of finding them can vary. However, these throwable objects have remained the same since they were available in Season X.
They are classified as floor loot, and that means you will technically have a chance of finding them any time that you open up a chest. Of course, that also means looking for Supply Drops or rare chests will greatly increase the odds that the Legendary item is found.

As the name of the loot also suggests, the Air Strike item can also simply be found on the floor. If you've been playing for the past week, you have certainly found Lightsabers and E-11 blasters, which are Mythic rarity. Considering how common they have been, it's no stretch that you can find a strike in most games.
However, Legendary items, in general, are typically less common than event-based Mythics. It's possible that an NPC may be carrying an Air Strike for purchase as well, but that remains to be seen.
Air Strike mechanics and stats in Fortnite
The strike item comes in stacks of two when you find them, and each use provides a powerful attack against anyone in the area. When you throw one of the items, which is like throwing a grenade, the immediate area will be marked in red smoke along with loud sirens.
Anything in the marked area will have a barrage of missiles dropped from the sky. Each missile that hits the ground or a target will deal 50 damage. With each strike that is thrown, 10 separate missiles will fall over the course of a few seconds.
Considering each stack contains two strikes, that will net players with the opportunity for 20 separate missiles and 1,000 damage potential with a stack. These are fantastic for zoning out enemies in a match and destroying structures that are in the way.
That's all there is to know about the unvaulted Air Strike in the latest hotfix. To learn more about Chapter 3 Season 2, check out the Fortnite section of our site!
