It seems as though Fortnite is always in the headlines with constant changes in gameplay to keep players engaged. Now all the way in Chapter 3 Season 2 of the battle royale, the storyline has evolved to include many heroes and villains from all ends of the universe, suiting players of all interests.
Though the latest reason to cheer about Fortnite has nothing to do with the gameplay at all. The game developers have been at the forefront of something much bigger as Epic Games have raised millions in Ukraine relief funds, here's the full story.
Fortnite Ukraine relief funds - Epic Games raise $100 million
In a move to stand in solidarity with the people of Ukraine, Epic Games made a pledge to donate Fortnite proceeds to humanitarian relief for a two-week period. The stipulations outlined that 100% of all real money spent on V-Buck packs, Fortnite Crew, gifted Battle Passes, and cosmetic packs would be donated. Now active, the donation period runs until 3rd April 2022.

Rather than waiting for the actual funds to come in from the Fortnite platform and payment partners (which can take a while), Fortnite is logging transactions as they are reported, and sending the appropriate funds to the humanitarian relief organizations. The organizations which will be receiving the donations are Direct Relief, United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), United Nations World Food Programme (UNWFP), UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), and the World Central Kitchen (WCK).
As of 21st March, Epic announced they had already raised $36 million, and the number has since grown. In a tweet posted to the official Fortnite account, the game developers revealed the funds raised are up to $100 million, a stellar show of support from the Fortnite community.
As of today, we’ve raised $100 million USD together to support humanitarian relief for people affected by the war in Ukraine. In addition to @UNICEF, @WFP, @Refugees and @DirectRelief, we are now also collaborating with @WCKitchen.

As mentioned the donation period will run until 3rd April so players still have time to do their part. And there should certainly be more and more purchases rolling in as the Chapter 3 Season 2 battle pass is now live featuring a ton of new rewards. The return of an ultra-popular collab is also trending in Fortnite circles as the Silk Sonic duo is available once again in the Item Shop.
