Japanese publisher Square Enix is nearing the PC launch of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth almost a year after its PlayStation 5 console launch in February 2024. They officially announced its PC release in December 2024 during The Game Awards 2024, in which they detailed the game's graphic settings, controller support, PC requirements, pre-order information, and more in an official announcement post.
However, the action RPG wasn't confirmed to be Steam Deck Verified, which the publisher stated that it's being worked on as they approach the game's PC launch. Recently, Square Enix provided a status update on the game's social media channels on the game's Steam Deck verification and if any optimizations are being confirmed for its Steam Deck support at launch.
In the game's official announcement, Square Enix stated that the development team has been "working hard to optimize the game for Steam Deck," where any updates will be shared with players. That update was posted to the official Final Fantasy Twitter account on 16th January 2025, and they confirmed that work had been completed on bringing optimizations for the handheld system as Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is now Steam Deck verified.
They showed off some gameplay footage of the action RPG running on the Steam Deck in a new video update posted to their social media and YouTube accounts. They made another social media post published shortly thereafter showcased a "specially crafted Fluffy Chocobo Steam Deck" running the action RPG; although it doesn't appear to lead to anything much as of writing, it's an adorable customized Steam Deck to "celebrate Final Fantasy VII Rebirth coming to PC and being Steam Deck verified!"
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth PC port will launch two game editions, Standard and Digital Deluxe Edition, and currently, there's a Standard and Digital Deluxe Edition bundle that includes Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade. The action RPG releases for PC via the Epic Games Store and Steam on 23rd January 2025, which players can still pre-order to claim the pre-order bonuses at launch.
