Final Fantasy players were truly treated to a night of fantastic announcements and wins at this year's The Game Awards. With Final Fantasy 16's Clive Rosfield joining the Tekken 8 roster as its next guest character, arriving on 16th December 2024 for pass holders ahead of its global release 72 hours later, but Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth won Best Music and Score at the annual gaming ceremony.
Square Enix confirmed a long-standing request from players that Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is coming to PC on 23rd January 2025 to cap the night off. Square Enix has confirmed that pre-orders will made available shortly, and additional details on PC requirements and features will be added at launch.
So what can players anticipate with the PC port for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth upon its release? According to the official announcement post, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth "features a range of graphics settings that will allow players to get the best quality across their different machines."
Three default graphical options will be available at launch, which can customize individual settings and features to match their PC set-up, and will be fully optimized for the best experience possible and deepen immersion. Players can "play the game with frame rates of up to 120FPS and a range of visual enhancements, including refined lighting, improved environment detail, more detailed textures" with support for NVIDIA DLSS.
Peripheral support for the PlayStation DualSense controller will be available alongside keyboard and mouse support, which players can tweak the controls for exploration, combat, and mini-games. PC minimum and recommended specifications have been released, which we'll detail in a separate guide; however, details on Steam Deck compatibility will be announced at a later stage.
Pre-orders for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has been made available now, the game launches on PC via the Epic Games Store and Steam on 23rd January 2025 with a 30% discount available until 5th February 2025. Those who pre-ordered their digital copy will be awarded unique bonuses, such as the “Moogle trio” summoning materia, Armor: Shinra Bangle Mk. II and Armor: Midgar Bangle Mk. II.
