The February 2022 games have started to roll in, starting with Dying Light 2: Stay Human. After succumbing to multiple delays, the highly anticipated sequel to 2015's breakout hit is finally here.
Techland's latest game is expected to be a masterclass, with countless side quests for you to pursue. While the main story only takes about 20 hours to beat, exploring every nook and cranny of the game is expected to last upwards of 500 hours.
Thankfully, the game has enough combat tricks up its sleeves to keep things fresh. This guide will show you how to unlock and upgrade the specialized UV flashlight tool in Dying Light 2.
How to get the UV flashlight in Dying Light 2
The UV flashlight is one of the six Nightrunner tools you unlock through the main missions in the game. However, unlike the paraglider, which you get relatively early in the story, you only get the UV flashlight in the second half of the story in a mission called "Welcome On Board."
It is a unique piece of equipment that will aid you when infiltrating GRE Dark Zones or exploring the city at night. The UV flashlight uses ultraviolet light to stun and damage the infected and, in return, makes them vulnerable to easy kills or for quick getaways in precarious situations.
The only major downside to using the UV flashlight is that its battery drains out pretty quickly. While it only takes a few seconds to recharge, this time could sometimes be a death wish. As such, it's essential to upgrade the UV flashlight if you plan to explore Dying Light 2's open-world a lot more at night.
How to upgrade the UV Flashlight in Dying Light 2?
Like the paragliders and other Nightrunner tools, you can upgrade the UV flashlight at Craftmaster NPCs. They are marked with crescent-shaped symbols with arrows on the map. The UV flashlight has two upgrades.
The first increases the cone size and battery of the flashlight for 2 Military Tech and 1,000 Old World Money, while the second adds a flash effect and further increases the cone size of the UV flashlight for 2 Military Tech and 2,000 Old World Money.
