Dying Light 2: Stay Human releases globally on 4th February 2022 and is the highly anticipated sequel to Techland's original popular ARPG zombie survival horror game launched roughly seven years ago.
The game will feature more than 500 hours of gameplay, during which time players must arm themselves against the ever-pressing threat of the undead. So naturally, players might be wondering if guns are available in Dying Light 2 or whether the game will be solely melee-focussed.
Are there guns in Dying Light 2?
Unlike the original, there will not be any guns in Dying Light 2. Well, that's technically not true. There is a handmade "Broomstick" shotgun; however, it's not very effective and can only be unlocked by crafting. In addition to this, it's challenging to find ammunition, so it might not be worth using anyway.
Why are there no guns in Dying Light 2?
According to lead designer Tymon Smektała, the lack of guns in Dying Light 2 is because the viral outbreak destroyed civilization. This resulted in no skilled people being left alive to craft advanced weaponry.
While some players might bemoan this decision, it is a sensible move to remain true and accurate to the game's storyline. Of course, this would also explain the existence of the handmade shotgun among the slew of available weaponry.

Indeed, this might be a bummer to many players; however, we must admit that it adds a sense of novelty to the typical "zombie horror" genre. But, this doesn't mean there aren't any ranged weapons, as players can still use bows and crossbows in the game.
