Dragon's Dogma 2 Portcrystals & Fast Travel Explained

Yes, you can use an oxcart in Dragon's Dogma 2 to travel between larger cities/towns, but what about those hard-to-reach places you would like to visit again, such as the Nameless Village perhaps? That's where Portcrystals come in, which you can use to teleport to different areas of the world within seconds!
So what are Portcrystals exactly? Well, in Dragon's Dogma 2, they come in two forms. First, there are the permanent, fixed Portcrystals that you must find and interact with once to activate them as fast-travel destinations. Then, you can use a Ferrystone (more on that in the next section) to teleport to your Portcrystal of choice.
The second type of Portcrystal is one that you can place in the world as a map marker. You can place it anywhere and teleport to it at any time if you use a Ferrystone. The caveat is that you can only have 10 active at a time on your map. Arisen can also recover their placed Portcrystals and put them somewhere else, maybe inside a Goblin mine, just to mess with our nasty green "friends?"
How To Get Ferrystones in Dragon's Dogma 2
Ferrystones are needed to make use of Portcrystals in Dragon's Dogma 2, as we've explained in the previous section of this guide. The thing is, Ferrystones are quite rare, especially in the first 20 hours or so. The simple description of a Ferrystone in Dragon's Dogma 2 reads:
A stone that can instantly spirit the user back to the location of a set Portcrystal.
There are a few ways to get Ferrystones. First up, some main quests and side quests do offer one of these rare consumable items as a reward. Then, you can also unlock one by handing in your first Seeker's Token, a welcome reward, to say the least! We've also found some out in the world randomly on enemies and in chests.
However, the "easiest" way to get more Ferrystones is to check each merchant (traveling and in a city/town) that you can find. Merchants can sell you a Ferrystone for 10,000 Gold (it's worth it!). The only caveat is that they stock one at a time, which might cause your coin purse to breathe a sigh of relief.
