Before we get started with the location of the mythical Sphinx creature in Dragon's Dogma 2, there are a few things you should know, some very important caveats that can make or break your experience with the Sphinx.

  • If you get a riddle wrong one time, the Sphinx will disappear.
  • You can meet the Sphinx again in a new game after completing the main story.
  • To get the final reward (Eternal Wakestone), you should bring a character that can wield a bow.
  • The Sphinx is a lategame creature. We suggest being around level 30 when taking on the final five questions.
  • The Sphinx appears in two locations, moving to the second location once you complete the first five riddles.

Now, let's get to the no-nonsense answers to the Sphinx's riddles in Dragon's Dogma 2 and her first location.

Dragon's Dogma 2 Sphinx Mountain Shrine Riddles & Answers

It's not easy getting to the Mountain Shrine but meeting the Sphinx is well worth the effort. (Picture: MapGenie.io)

The image above showcases the Sphinx's location the first time you meet her in Dragon's Dogma 2. It's not easy getting there, but make your way through the Worldsend Cavern and up to the Mountain Shrine location.

Once you meet the Sphinx, DO NOT ATTACK HER. Instead, speak to her, and you'll face your first five riddles. Check out the riddles the Sphinx gives you alongside the straightforward answers below.

Riddle of Eyes Answer & Reward

Our eyes are our allies, yet oft do they betray, for eyes tell lies, so I advise, and thence do lead astray. Yet how will your eyes advise you? Venture through yonder door and retrieve that which is of greatest value.

Solution: The Sphinx will open a tunnel that you go through. Just above the entrance, not far into the huge tunnel system, you'll see a chest. Open it and collect the Sealing Phial item, then give it to the Sphinx. Don't go deep into the tunnels, as there are dummy chests that will lead you to fail the riddle.

Reward: Wakestone

Riddle of Madness Answer & Reward

Love is as twin to madness, they say. They are bound fast, as night is to day. So bring forth your most beloved to me, that I might gauge the depth of your insanity.

Solution: While you can take an NPC you've romanced, such as Wilhelmina or Ulrika, we suggest just taking your main pawn, as that works as well. When your main pawn is in position, quickly talk to the Sphinx to solve the riddle.

Reward: Portcrystal

Riddle of Wisdom Answer & Reward

The parent knows the child, yet the reverse is far from true. The child knows not the parent; such is the parent's due. I am a lost child, for kinship do I yearn. So bring to me my parent, that I may learn.

Solution: Bring a pawn made by Capcom to the Sphinx. For example, SphinxFather or SphinxMother will work. Be sure to check under the pawn's "Arisen details" when hiring it that it was made by CAPCOM, as some players might try to troll others.

Reward: x1200 Rift Crystals

Riddle of Conviction Answer & Reward

Life is an enigma--a lender of mortal debt. Yet lighter pack makes fleeter foot and challenge nimbly met. So grant to me what you most prize, and hence elude your ponderous demise.

Solution: Give the Sphinx an item you would like to get duplicated.

Reward: Duplicate of the item you've given the Sphinx. We suggest giving it the rarest item you have or the most useful, such as duplicating a Portcrystal or the Sealing Phial to use later.

Riddle of Rumination Answer & Reward

You know of Seeker's Tokens, I trust? Those keepsakes of a fondly remembered journey? Yet where it was that you found your first? Retrace your steps, if you can--you might make a new discovery.

Solution: Return to the place where you picked up your first Seeker's Token, and pick up the Finder's Token. Unfortunately, you must remember the area where you got the first Seeker's Token yourself, making this quite difficult. We recommend unlocking the Trickster's Vocation and the Detection augmentation, which allows you to spot Seeker's Tokens and the Finder's Token...Good luck!

Reward: x3 Ferrystones

Pro tip:If this was your fifth riddle at the Mountain Shrine, run to the Sphinx as she starts flying away, and try to grab onto her, as you can effectively hitch a ride to her second location.

Dragon's Dogma 2 Sphinx Frontier Shrine Riddles & Answers

If you are quick enough, you can ride on the Sphinx to her second location, the Frontier Shrine! (Picture: MapGenie.io)

The image above showcases the second location of the Sphinx in Dragon's Dogma 2, at the Frontier Shrine. We recommend moving to the Checkpoint Rest Town and then heading West.

There is, however, an easier way to get to the Sphinx's second location. You just have to be very quick and jump on her back, holding on with your grab key as she flies off from her first location after you've completed the fifth riddle at the Mountain Shrine.

If you find the Sphinx in her second location, you will automatically complete the Riddle of Reunion. The reward for finding the Sphinx at the Frontier Shrine is 100,000 Gold. From here, there are four more riddles that players need to complete, given to you in a random order instead of being a choice like with the first five riddles.

Riddle of Contest Answer & Reward

Though ours is a battle of wits, tests of mettle are more to your strength. Is that not so? Come, try your arm – though he shall be your opponent, not I. However, I am not one to be amused by a simple duel. Bear this ring into battle, that I might gauge your true strength.

Solution: The Sphinx will summon a guard that you need to defeat. You'll find that your damage is lowered greatly due to the Ring of Derision. We suggest staggering the enemy, picking them up, and throwing them off the cliff, completing the riddle with ease.

Reward: Ring of Ambition (increases XP gain)

Riddle of Differentiation Answer & Reward

So vast is the world, and full of life; you are but one of many. Indeed, in the grand scheme, we are as distinct from one another as pebbles on a beach – yet we do so love to extol our differences. But are these differences so great? If you believe so, this next task should prove exceedingly simple. I seek this man. If men are so distinct, I’m sure you’ll find him in a trice.

Solution: The Sphinx will show you a character, and you'll have to collect the correct one that looks exactly like the one she showed you. There are two options, Vergil or Dante, and they look almost exactly alike. However, you can tell them apart and put the correct one in front of the Sphinx to complete this riddle.

Dante has straight hair hanging over his left eye, while Vergil has curly hair hanging over his right eye. That's the way to tell them apart. Now that you know which one the Sphinx has shown you, head out to find the correct NPC you've identified and bring them in front of the Sphinx.

Reward: Whimsical Daydream weapons for Trickster Vocation.

Riddle of Futility Answer & Reward

How easily the mind unravels! Some say it’s pain that does it best, others darkness – but I say neither. Rather, I say a mind cannot be more soundly broken than when it beholds its earnest efforts laid low in a single stroke. Could your survive such despair? We shall see. Here I have an amphora destine for Ser Maurits in Battahl. Deliver it to him, but beware; it’s rather fragile.

Solution: The Sphinx asks you to carry the vase all the way to Battahl. It's an incredibly difficult task, as it breaks easily. If it breaks, you fail the riddle, and the Sphinx disappears. Our suggestion is to instead bring Ser Maurits to the Vase next to the Sphinx, carrying the NPC and maybe using a Portscrystal or a Sealing Phail to make things easier.

Reward: Ring of Eternal Bond

Riddle of Recollection Answer & Reward

Now, questions beget questions, and I have one for you. How many riddles have you solved thus far? My memory fails me, you see. Remind me, and make it plain. Let yonder statues be your means. For every question aptly answered, bring one here before me.

Solution: Pick up and move the statues in front of the Sphinx, until you have the correct number of statues in front of her corresponding to the number of riddles you've completed thus far. For example, if this is the first riddle you get in her second location (remember, they are randomized now), you'll select six statues, since you've already completed the riddle of reunion just by being at the location.

Reward: Unmaking Arrow

Just before you complete the 10th riddle, we suggest enabling a Vocation that can use a bow. Complete the 10th riddle then fight the Sphinx. Once it shows a purple glow, using the Unmaking Arrow to kill it, then pick up the Key of Sagacity and loot the golden chest.

That's it; you've completed A Game of Wits in Dragon's Dogma 2, correctly answering all the Sphinx's riddles and receiving some of the best rewards! Congratulations, Arisen, you've earned it!
