Dragon's Dogma 2 Cyclops: How To Beat & Weakness

Are you stuck at the first big boss in Dragon's Dogma 2, the mighty Cyclops? Want a way to despatch the one-eyed beast quickly? Then don't fret, Arisen, we've got you covered!

We'll explain the ways in which you can quickly kill the first Cyclops in Dragon's Dogma 2 to progress deeper into the intricate story and share the monster type's weaknesses to exploit.

Spoiler Warning: This guide contains light spoilers for the first few hours of Dragon's Dogma 2.

Beating The First Cyclops in Dragon's Dogma 2

There's no shame in being unprepared when encountering a Cyclops in Dragon's Dogma 2. The encounter, the subsequent times you meet a one-eyed monster, is planned, forming part of the early story as you escort Gregor from Melve to the capital city of Vernworth.

If you want to defeat the Cyclops in a "fair" manner, taking on the beast head-on, then the following tips will help:

• Go for the eye: As the image above shows, you can hit the Cyclops in its one eye with arrows. If you have a ranged Pawn (or your vocation allows it), target the beast's eye, which will cause it to stumble around blindly while you chip away at its health.
• Use fire: Magic users can use fire to deal significant damage to a Cyclops. We suspect it is one of its weaknesses, as the health went down quite fast after we set it ablaze. 
• Go climbing: Once you deal enough damage to the Cyclops in Dragon's Dogma 2 or target its eye enough, it might fall down. Use the Right Trigger (or the relevant "Grab" key on PC) to start climbing onto the beast. Climb to its head and stab it in the eye if you are a melee character...brutal!

No, we aren't pointing towards our measly Arisen, wearing a bit of cloth and a wooden shield. In the image below, we are pointing toward another way to take care of the Cyclops in Dragon's Dogma 2.

Your first boss fight can also serve as an introduction to using the environment to dispatch your foes. The Cyclops encounter takes place in a dam-like area, with rocks, as you can see in the image above, ready to be destroyed.

There are some rocks at the top of the area. Pick up a barrel and throw it into those rocks to explode, sending water rushing in and dealing massive damage to the Cyclops. That's the easiest way to kill the first boss in Dragon's Dogma 2 and the most satisfying. It is important to note, however, that using the environment isn't mandatory.

You'll get a load of experience and some crafting/upgrading material, including the Cyclops eye, which is quite rare...since you need to slay more of these beasts out in the world to earn this material.
