You can upgrade (enhance) many of your items in Dragon's Dogma 2, up to three (3) Star quality. One very precious resource is required to upgrade many of the armor and weapons you will find...the Black Freakish Mane.

Take a seat, Arisen, as we explain how you can farm the Black Freakish Mane items in Dragon's Dogma 2, required for many of the 3 Star Enhancement of items across the vast fantasy world.

Dragon's Dogma 2 Black Freakish Mane: How To Get

The only way to get the Black Freakish Mane item in Dragon's Dogma 2 is to kill four-legged, three-headed beasts. Yes, we are talking about the lion-hybrid, the Gorechimera, a powerful foe.

The image above showcases the location of the Waterfall Cave, which opens up deep into the main story. It is there were you can reliably find Gorechimeras spawning. They have roughly a 15% chance to drop a Black Freakish Mane.

You'll have to slay all the Gorechimeras, then rest a bit and wait for them to respawn, then rinse and repeat the process until you have enough Black Freakish Mane to enhance all the equipment you want! We do recommend you are at least level 21 (23-24 preferred) and have some very solid pawns accompanying you, as these creatures as late-game powerhouses that can and will kill you if you are not careful. They don't care if you are the Arisen!

An alternative spawn location you can try is the Forgotten Tunnel!

Please note: According to some players, there's a small chance that regular Chimeras can drop a Black Freakish Mane, but we haven't seen that happening yet, so its definitely not a recommended farming tactic to target regular Chimeras.

Do you know who has a magnificent mane? Ian McShane! Check out the awesome trailer where the actor introduces gamers to the world of Dragon's Dogma 2.

So there you have it: everything Arisen needs to know about farming Black Freakish Mane in Dragon's Dogma 2, including the location of Gorechimeas, which you will have to slay to farm this rare resource.
