Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty was recently shown off at the Xbox and Bethesda Showcase with a release date and reveal of what you can expect from the expansion. With the release coming up this September, thoughts are turning towards the sequel to the game, which is more than likely years away. As it turns out though, we do have one small piece of information about the title: who will be directing it.
As confirmed through an interview with Bloomberg, Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty's director Gabe Amatangelo is developing the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel which was announced last year during an investor presentation. Pre-production hasn't even started yet, with development likely to not start until early next year, after Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty has launched.
Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty promises to not only expand the game beyond what we already have but also fix a lot of problems with the game. According to people who have played the expansion, it's looking to completely overhaul the police system so that you can actually get into police chases, rather than having police spawn directly behind you as they do in the current version of the game.
According to CD Projekt Red, almost every single aspect of the game is going to be entirely overhauled and made into something better than the current form it exists in. Hopefully they can deliver on this promise and redeem Cyberpunk 2077 so that it is remembered more than a launch disaster.
