Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty has launched, and it promises to add a large chunk to the game with new missions, new cyberware, new abilities, and a brand new ending to the actual game. But it's pretty expensive, and with so many games launching right now and over the next month you're probably sat there wondering if Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty is actually worth it, which is where we come in.
Is Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty worth it?
Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty expands on Night City by showing off Dogtown, a location that was skimmed over during the main game. There's a brand new story here with new characters, and new side quests to build out the lore of the world. New weapons, new vehicles, new vehicle weapons, the expansion has it all, but it's a fairly expensive expansion to the game, and since Cyberpunk 2077 was so broken when it first launched, bugs will be on the minds of many people. Luckily Phantom Liberty is actually fairly polished, and in direct comparison to the launch state of Cyberpunk 2077, it's amazing.
In addition to Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty, there's also the advent of Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.0. If you don't know or don't yet own the game, Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.0 brings with it a whole host of changes to the base game, and you get access to these changes even without owning Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty as long as you own the game on a next-generation platform. Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.0 brings with it:
- A better police system that will chase you down if you commit a crime and has a star system for notoriety
- Vehicle on Vehicle Combat
- Fully Reworked Perks
- Fully Reworked Cyberware
If you've never really jived with Cyberpunk 2077 though, it might not be worth the pick-up. Sure, Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.0 adds a LOT of new features to the game and fixes a lot of major issues. Sure, over the years CD Projekt Red has committed themselves to fixing the game and it's in a much better state than it once was. But at the core, this is still Cyberpunk. It's the same story, the same basic gameplay loop, and the same type of RPG it always was, and if that's not for you then don't pick it up.
