Despite CD Projekt RED's efforts to make Cyberpunk 2077 completely DMCA risk-free, the developer has now warned Twitch streamers to turn off their music.

The whole Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) debacle, resulting in strikes and notices as Twitch streamers big and small had to delete years upon years of content from their Twitch profiles is still ongoing.

Twitch even apologized for the DMCA disaster but things are still far from over. Now, CD Projekt RED has warned streamers of possible Cyberpunk 2077 DMCA issues, and it comes as a bit of a shock.

Cyberpunk 2077 DMCA warning

Long before the game's release, all the way back in October 2020, CD Projekt RED revealed that Twitch streamers won't have to worry about DMCA violations while streaming the game. According to the developer, it was completely DMCA risk-free.

Now, CD Projekt RED took to Twitter to issue a DMCA warning, asking streamers to turn off their in-game music while streaming. This is due to instances in the game which "might put a DMCA strike" on a streamer's channel.

This is even with the "Disable Copyright Music" option enabled. According to CD Projekt RED, streamers need to make sure to turn off the sound during the first two Braindance sequences.

The developer explains they are working on it: "Fix is on the way but until then, we'd like to ask you to mute music in the game's settings entirely. We are very sorry for any inconvenience caused."

At the time of writing, no official fix has been deployed. Hopefully, CD Projekt RED will sort out the potential DMCA issue for Cyberpunk 2077 soon, as streamers with the "Disable Copyright Music" option enabled surely felt safe streaming whatever they wanted in the game.
