BLAST Premier Spring Final: FaZe Clan vs. SAW Report
You'll find more details about what happened on each map of the FaZe Clan vs. SAW opening match below, in the form of a detailed battle report.
FaZe Clan vs. SAW Map 1 Ancient
On Ancient, SAW started on the T side, and despite Helvijs "broky" Saukants scoring four kills in a row, SAW managed to win the pistol round by the skin of their teeth. FaZe responded with a force buy in the second round, which didn't pay off, putting their economy in danger.
In the third round, FaZe responded with a win, and then SAW's Ricardo "roman" Oliveira pulled off a 1v3 clutch in a post-plant situation to pull one back, breaking FaZe Clan's economy and winning another two rounds in a row to make the score 5-1.
In the eighth round, FaZe Clan finally scored another win, making it 6-2 on their second buy attempt, but couldn't follow up. In the 9th round, FaZe Clan was 0.42 seconds away from defusing the bomb! The first half of Ancient finished 10-2 in favor of SAW.
With sides switching in the second half, SAW was now on the CTs, and FaZe Clan took barely took the pistol round. SAW then decided to force-buy into the 14th round, getting eager to close out the map, but that didn't work out, as FaZe won two T rounds in a row.
FaZe Clan pushed their advantage, securing multiple buy rounds in a row to shut down SAW's push and make the score 10-8, with FaZe Clan still trailing, but Danish legend Finn "karrigan" Andersen's calls being incredibly on-point.
SAW recovered, showing their big match temperament and breaking FaZe's 7-round streak to win the 20th round and make it 11-9 in their favor before FaZe Clan pulled one back to make it 12-10.
With some insane plays from Håvard "Rain" Nygaard, including a 4-kill in the 23rd round, FaZe Clan pulled it back to force overtime as the regulation score ended 12-12.
SAW drew first blood in overtime, scoring a clean round win to kick off proceedings, and followed it up with another round, making it 14-12 in their favor before FaZe Clan responded with a T-side win.
As the sides switched in overtime, SAW claimed the first round on their T side, making the score 15-13, and then FaZe pulled two back yet again to make it 15-15, refusing to go down without a fight and forcing double overtime.
In double-overtime, FaZe Clan claimed all three CT rounds and then finished off SAW on Ancient with a 19-16 map win.
FaZe Clan vs. SAW Map 2 Inferno
On Inferno, SAW again got off to a fantastic start, claiming the pistol round on the CT side and following up with a conversion to take a 2-0 lead before David "frozen" Čerňanský popped off with three headshots to lock in a round for FaZe Clan.
SAW pulled one back despite frozen's heroics, and then FaZe Clan won the next round in a back-and-forth affair on Inferno before SAW was forced into a double eco in the 6th round.
SAW attempted to bounce back on the CT side of Inferno but lost their first buy round and FaZe kept five alive in the anti-eco round.
FaZe Clan showed their pedigree on the T side of Inferno, keeping the pressure on with solid execute plays while SAW struggled to stabilize after their initial success on the iconic CS map.
SAW chipped away at FaZe Clan a bit, but at the end of the first half, FaZe Clan secured a strong lead at 8-4.
As the teams switched sides, SAW again secured the pistol round, showing FaZe Clan definitely has a weakness in the opening rounds. However, after a frantic 14th round, FaZe retaliated with a force buy and made the score 9-5, putting the pressure back on SAW.
As the gun rounds kicked in again, FaZe Clan won two 2v4 situations in a row, making it 12-5 and pushing all the right buttons to dominate SAW on the T side. Despite SAW's best efforts, FaZe easily finishes the second map (13-5) and thereby wins the series 2-0.
FaZe Clan vs. SAW Map 3 Nuke
Not needed FaZe Clan wins 2-0.
