Funcom's survival MMO, Conan Exiles, has enjoyed its recent successes with the Age of Sorcery storyline, culminating in a final battle with the corrupted sorcerer, Kurak. While it's yet to be revealed what the developer has planned for the game following the Age of Sorcery, players across all available platforms can anticipate more in-game lore, new features, and dangerous enemies and bosses.
Conan Exiles has been on the market for over six years, dating back to its Early Access release, but with it available on PC and console, does the game support cross-platform play capabilities? We've investigated in this guide whether Conan Exiles is a cross-platform game.
Does Conan Exiles Support Cross-Platform Play?
Since its release in 2018, players have been rushing to experience the brutal worlds of the Exiled Lands before being rescued by the famed Conan the Barbarian and thus setting off on their journey. Developer Funcom has since launched multiple cosmetic packs and the Isle of Siptah expansion, further adding to the rich and dynamic world of Conan Exiles.
As the game is currently available on PC, PlayStation 4 & PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox Cloud Gaming services, naturally, many have wondered whether the survival MMO supports cross-platform play. Given the game's robust multiplayer components, it would make sense to be open to having console and PC players sharing multiplayer lobbies; however, this isn't the case.
At launch, the developer had explained that cross-play between PC and Xbox consoles "is not something" that they've planned for Conan Exiles, and in 2023, this feature is still unavailable. Nevertheless, if you're playing Conan Exiles on Steam, you can join lobbies with other PC players who've purchased the game through Epic Games Store.
The same is applied to console, as Xbox One owners can play with those playing on Xbox Series X|S. And yes, PlayStation 4 players can join lobbies with PlayStation 5 players but not with Xbox and PC players.
It's yet to be determined if Funcom will eventually make Conan Exiles a cross-platform title like other survival and MMO games, including Rust, Final Fantasy XIV, and Ark: Survival Evolved. For now, they'll have to make do with enjoying all the new content in the Age of Sorcery: Chapter 3, which launched in March 2023.
