With rumors and speculation swirling about what 2K Games might have in store for Summer Game Fest, they seem to have accidentally (or accidentally on purpose) leaked confirmation that a Sid Meier's Civilization 7 reveal is looming. While Firaxis Games stalwart Civ 6 continued to get regular DLC and content updates until recently, the tide is shifting for a title that first released in late 2016. Longtime players get ready to celebrate, it looks like Civ 7 news is finally on the way.

Early on June 7, 2024, eagle-eyed gamers picked up on the fact that the official 2K Games website suddenly featured the above Sid Meier's Civilization VII logo with "Civ VII Coming Soon" below it. While it was quickly changed and removed fromm the 2K Games website, you can still see it archived at this link.

The "Wishlist Now" link went to this Civilization page which currently shows a 404 DISASTER! error. The trailer link doesn't seem to work in Wayback Machine, and it may not have worked during the brief time this went live as the only thing fans have circulated is the primary image. There were already rumblings from recent job postings and other signs that Civ 7 was on the horizon, but the wait might already be over.

2K Games is expected to have a presence during this weekend's Summer Game Fest, but exactly when is less clear. There was early speculation that a 2K sequel announcement could be the next iteration of Borderlands or even the long awaited BioShock 4, but it looks like Firaxis is taking the spotlight this year for Civ 7.
