While we've known Augustus would be joining the Civ 7 roster of leaders for some time, the First Look video detailing many of his features has finally been released. The initial First Look focused on Hatshepsut, but the real-world Roman Emperor is now in the spotlight.

Augustus will be a Cultural Expansionist leader with an emphasis on those styles of play, and this creates an interesting pairing with Rome which is a Cultural Militaristic civilization. Players may also go with the recently revealed Greece in the Antiquity Age, and in that case you'd get a Cultural Diplomatic civ more focused on building influence to use when making deals or speaking with other leaders.

There will of course be a civ change as each new age arrives, and that's how Firaxis Games quietly dropped revealed that "in the Exploration Age, Spain can help you spread your empire to new shores." We don't yet know what other leaders might have a connection to Spain or any details about its attributes and abilities in Civ 7, but players have yet another option to look forward to when it does arrive.

Augustus' unique Imperium Maius ability will add production in the capital for every town, increase gold towards purchasing buildings in towns, and allow you to purchase cultural buildings in towns. We've also now learned his agenda, Restitutor Orbis, which will decrease leader relationships by a medium amount for each town in other players' empires and increase leader relationships by a medium amount for each city (excluding the capital) in other players' empires.

We don't yet know what the next Civilization 7 reveal will be focused on, but there are several First Look videos for leaders we already know about on the way. Civ 7 First Looks are expected in the coming weeks and months for Amina, Ashoka, Benjamin Franklin, Confucius, Himiko, Napoleon Bonaparte (Revolutionary & Emperor Personas), and Tecumseh. You can find all the details we've already learned about them here in our running list of confirmed civs and leaders for Civilization 7.
