Apex Legends cross-platform play: How to enable, disable and add friends

With the release of Apex Legends Season 10: Emergence, there's a whole lot for players to enjoy, from a shiny new Battle Pass to diving into the mammoth weapon balance changes to find that perfect setup, and even a new Legend to compete with. Apex Legends cross-platform: How to enable or disable

Apex Legend is cross-platform, allowing players to enjoy the Battle Royale experience with friends playing on different gaming devices.

Not everyone, however, wants to have a cross-platform play experience, which is why we've got a step-by-step guide to either turning Apex Legends cross-platform play on or off.

Follow the steps below to enable or disable cross-platform play in Apex Legends:

• Go to the lobby.
• Click the cogwheel (Game Menu) in the bottom left corner of the screen.
• Click Settings.
• Scroll down to Cross-Platform Play.
• Click Enabled to turn it on, and Disabled to turn it off.

Please note: If you disable cross-play, you’ll only be able to group up with other players who disabled cross-play on the same platform. This means there will likely be a small pool of players right now, as it is enabled by default.

How to add friends from different platforms in Apex Legends

You can easily add friends from different platforms in Apex Legends. Platforms supported are PC, Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch.

Once friends are added, you will also be able to see which platform they are playing from via your friends' list, as the image below showcases.

Follow the steps below to add friends playing Apex Legends from different platforms to your list of buddies.

• Go to the Friends menu.
• Click Find Friend.
• Type in their EA Public ID.
• Select the friend you want to add and you are done.

According to EA, players can also head to their Privacy Settings and change how others can search for them, allowing for different options such as Xbox Live Gamertag, PSN Online ID, Nintendo Nickname or even email address.

Those who receive a friend invite can choose to accept, reject or even block the requestor. 

Does Apex Legends have cross-progression?

Apex Legends does have cross-progression, however, only between PC gamers on Origin and Steam.

EA and Respawn explain that: "When you first launch Apex Legends on Steam, we’ll ask you to link your EA Account. Make sure this is the correct account you want to link to. Otherwise, your progress won’t carry over, and you may not be able to unlink your EA Account."
