Ubisoft Forward 2022 is going to be an extremely exciting event, specifically for fans of the Assassins Creed (AC) franchise, as the reveal of Assassin's Creed Mirage has been put at the center of attention. Fans reacting to the news, which was announced on the official Assassin's Creed Twitter account, are ecstatic that the game will feature an Assassin as the protagonist and will be a return to form after the more open-world Assassin's Creed Odyssey and Valhalla.
A further indication that Mirage will be set in Baghdad in the ninth century is the image that accompanied the announcement, which shows an assassin in traditional white attire and a hood swooping above a crowd in a Middle Eastern setting. It appears to draw heavily from the original AC as a return to basics, and although it's unclear from the image whether fan favorite Basim Ibn Ishaq is the main character, we'll more than likely find out at the Ubisoft Forward event.
We have also gotten a sneak peek into what the DLC for AC Mirage will entail, as a recent leak has depicted what the DLC could look like. Though this is unconfirmed by the developers, it speaks to the fan's expectations from a new AC game to be quite high, and they are hoping that Ubisoft does not disappoint.
Despite Odyssey and Valhalla receiving excellent reviews, many members of the AC community prefer a more conventional approach. One of the tweets with the most likes in response to the announcement is eager to find out if Mirage will indeed return to its "basics with no RPG style system.", and as another popular tweet writes "praying that it has something to do with assassins".

In the end, this will all come down to what we see at the Ubisoft Forward 2022 event on the 10th September. It's likely we will see some of the gameplay revealed for the game, and perhaps a quick trailer depicting the setting, lore introduction, and some other looks at the features of the game.
And while we don't yet know which other games are scheduled to appear at Ubisoft Forward 2022, we can at least look forward to some clarity regarding AC and the future of the deadly assassin franchise.
