Sony’s PlayStation exclusive title The Last Of Us will be adapted into a TV series for US network HBO, developer Naughty Dog has confirmed.
The Last Of Us writer and creative director Neil Druckmann will adapt the game with Craig Mazin, who recently earned critical acclaim as the writer of HBO miniseries Chernobyl.
The Last Of Us TV series is a co-production between Sony Pictures Television and PlayStation Productions, with it being the first TV series from the latter.

In a statement via The Hollywood Reporter, Neil Druckmann said: “From the first time I sat down to talk with Craig I was equally blown away by his approach to narrative and his love and deep understanding of The Last Of Us.
“With Chernobyl, Craig and HBO created a tense, harrowing, emotional masterpiece. I couldn’t think of better partners to bring the story of The Last Of Us to life as a television show.”
The Last Of Us released back in 2013 and was largely praised for its narrative, which follows characters Joel and Ellie as they navigate a post-apocalyptic US.
It's especially rare to see the creative director of the game directly involved in a TV adaptation, which may quell some doubts about whether an adaptation is truly necessary.
There's no indication as to when we can expect the TV series to arrive, so we imagine it'll be some years off yet.
The announcement precedes the release of The Last Of Us Part II, which releases on PlayStation 4 on 29th May.
