Splitgate 2 just got its first gameplay trailer, and it shows off some of what fans can expect from the game - including three different unique factions for players to choose from. Developers describe the faction system as "one of the biggest changes to Splitgate" from the original game, and fans get to see it in action in this new trailer.
Factions will not only affect how players look and how their characters behave, but they'll also impact gameplay. In the video, fans meet the three factions - Aeros, Meridian, and Sabrask - and learn a little bit about what they're all about.
Aeros are fact-acting heroes with a Rush ability, allowing them to come in for the kill. This team will align with "traditional Splitgate fans who love to be in the middle of the action," developers say. In other words, if you played the original game and loved it, Aeros might be the perfect faction for you.
Next up is Meridian, a well-rounded role that developers say "rounds out matches by helping, healing, and scoring." Meridians' powers include Hypersight and Time Dome, which boost support class players and thus help out the whole team.
Lastly we get to take a look at the Sabrask, whom developers describe as the "toughest Aces in Sol." Sabrasks are equipped with the Smart Wall and grenades, which help them with defensive and offensive plays respectively. Sabrask would be the ideal faction for those who enjoy locking down areas for their team.
"Each faction comes with its own distinct abilities, with each suiting a different, varied playstyle," developers explained. "Fans are encouraged to mix and match factions on their teams to maximize strengths and to counter the opposing team’s choices. "
1047 Games' Splitgate 2 will be available on PC, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. Players can check out gameplay live on the Splitgate Twitch channel on 14 August at 12PM PT/ 3 PM ET.
