With the release of the Garden of the Witch event in Hunt: Showdown 1896, players are diving into the game to explore new features and improvements. While there’s a lot to discuss, some players are particularly appreciating the smaller details, like the new background for the in-game menu designed to celebrate the event. Given how visually appealing it is, many are now requesting an option to select their favorite backgrounds.
Garden Of The Witch Has Players Requesting In-Game Background Selection
As seen in the in-game menu and shared on Reddit through player screenshots, the Garden of the Witch event in Hunt: Showdown 1896 has introduced a brand-new background for the "Play" menu, where players select their Hunter and loadout. These backgrounds typically change with each event, and this time, the design features a corrupted nature theme, with overgrown shrubbery set against the classic Hunt-themed buildings.
Many players, myself included, love how this new backdrop complements both new and existing Hunters, prompting a wave of requests on Reddit for Crytek to introduce a background selection feature. This idea is highlighted in a post by user /JownJawge, titled: "Please allow us to choose between event backgrounds during vanilla Hunt. I want to keep this one forever."
Other players echoed this sentiment, with one stating: "By far my favorite. Need a map for it too, but I’d settle for a background select to keep this forever." Another player shared which background they’d choose if given the option: "I'd rock the Scorched Earth (Mammon's Gulch) background. I really liked that one."
Some even suggested incorporating background selection into the Battle Pass, with one player proposing: "I think it would be cool if they gave you a background just for buying the Battle Pass. It’s an incentive to buy it outright, and once you have it, you're more inclined to finish it."
With so much enthusiasm for this feature, it's clear that players would love to see it added to the game—and some might even be willing to pay for it. Of course, this remains just a suggestion, and Crytek will likely prioritize other features before considering a background selection option. However, if they do decide to implement it, it would give players even more incentive to hit that ready-up screen in Hunt: Showdown 1896.
