Sony State of Play June 2022 - All revealed games, trailers and ports

To kick off Summer Game Fest 2022, PlayStation held a 30 minutes long new State of Play event, packed with a diverse lineup of upcoming games. From unexpected new reveals to updates on long-awaited titles, the June 2022 State of Play had something for everyone. 

Many fans claim that the latest PlayStation showcase was one of the best in the history of State of Play events, and if you're someone who missed out on the show altogether, don't fret. Here's a recap of all the new video game announcements, trailers, and ports revealed during the June 2022 State of Play.

 Resident Evil 4 Remake 

• Release date - 23rd March 2023
• Platform - PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.

After being rumored for years, Capcom finally lifted the veil off Resident Evil 4 Remake and showed a glimpse of this modern-day reimagining of a 17 years old classic that shaped the action-horror genre. 

Resident Evil 4 Remake will reportedly feature a darker tone than the original and is rumored to connect (lore-wise) with Resident Evil Village. Capcom also confirmed that additional RE 4 content is in development for PS VR2.

Resident Evil Village PS VR2 version

• Release date - TBH
• Platform - PS VR2

Alongside Resident Evil 4 Remake, Capcom revealed a new trailer for Resident Evil Village for Sony's upcoming PS VR2. Resident Evil 7 came to the original PS VR, so this announcement shouldn't be too surprising. Unfortunately, Resident Evil Village on PS VR2 doesn't currently have a release date.

Street Fighter 6

• Release date - 2023
• Platforms - PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

Capcom officially revealed Street Fighter 6 with a small teaser earlier this year. However, at Sony's June 2022 State of Play event, the company finally showcased a three-minute-long trailer, giving a glimpse of the game's setting, story, and new and returning characters. They also showed off the brutal and stylish gameplay that carved the series' reputation.

Horizon Call of the Mountain 

• Release date - TBH
• Platforms - PS VR2 

Horizon Call of the Mountain is a PS VR2 launch title set in the post-post-apocalyptic world of the Horizon franchise. Co-developed by Guerrilla Games and Firesprite, the announcement trailer for Horizon Call of the Mountain provides a first glimpse of the main protagonist, Ryas, a former Carja Hunter, alongside some of the flora and fauna you can expect to encounter in this gorgeous upcoming PS VR2 title.

Guerrilla Games also announced a New Game Plus mode for Horizon Forbidden West alongside other much-requested features like Ultra Hard difficulty mode, transmog feature, and other quality of life improvements.

The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners Chapter 2: Retribution

• Release date - Late 2022 for all platforms except PS VR2
• Platforms - PC, PS VR, PS VR2, Oculus Rift, Oculus Quest, and Oculus Quest 2.

The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners Chapter 2 is the sequel to 2020's VR first-person survival horror game Saints and Sinners. The original's physics-based combat returns in Saints and Sinner Chapter 2 with better visuals and an arsenal of new powerful, unique weapons. 

Rollerdrome 

• Release date - August 2022
• Platforms - PC, PS4, and PS5.

Rollerdrome is a futuristic part skating part shooting game from the developers behind OlliOlli World. To survive in Rollerdrome, you must always be on the move. Performing tricks will grant you ammo to take out your enemies in style and survive Rollerdrome. 

Eternights

• Release date - Early 2023
• Platforms - PC, PS4, PS5.

Eternights is a Persona inspired part dating simulator and part action RPG. When you're not going on dates with your comrades, you will explore dungeons and fight vicious monsters to prevent the world from meeting an untimely demise. 

The Callisto Protocol

• Release date - 2nd December 2022
• Platforms - PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

The Callisto Protocol is a brutal third-person survival horror game from the creators of Dead Space. You play as Jacob Lee, a prisoner at Black Iron Prison in Jupiter's Moon Callisto, who suddenly finds himself surrounded by strange alien creatures called Biophage. 

The latest trailer gives a glimpse of some of the weapons you can use to fight vicious Biophage creatures you will encounter while exploring the hauntingly beautiful yet desolated Callisto. 

Stray 

• Release date - 19th July 2022
• Platforms - PC, PS4, PS5, and PS Plus Extra and Premium 

Annapurna Interactive's highly anticipated Cyberpunk-like game, which involves playing as a Stray Cat, finally has a release date. The State of Play trailer for the game revealed various vibrant and desolate locales you will be exploring, alongside NPCs you will meet as you find your way home.

Tunic 

• Release date - 27th September 2022
• Platforms - PS4 and PS5

2022's breakout indie title, Tunic, is finally headed to PlayStation, and publisher Finji revealed a brand new trailer for the same during the June 2022 State of Play event. The isometric action-adventure title puts you in the shoes of a cute fox as you explore a fantastical world brimming with ancient powers and fight ferocious monsters.

No Man's Sky for PS VR2

• Release date - TBA 
• Platforms - PS VR2 

Hello Games' space simulator, No Man's Sky, is coming to PS VR2. Fortunately, 2016's sleeper hit is already available on PS VR, and now the developers are hard at work optimizing No Man's Sky to take full advantage of PS5 and PS VR2.

Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered & Miles Morales for PC

• Release date - 12th August 2022
• Platforms - PC

The next big PlayStation exclusive headed to PC is none other than 2017's and 2020's mega-hits: Marvel's Spider-Man, and Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, respectively, which Sony announced during its latest State of Play event. 

The PlayStation Blog further revealed some enhancements PC players could expect, like mouse and keyboard support, adjustable render settings, ray-traced reflections, and more.

Season: A letter to the future

• Release date - Autumn 2022
• Platforms - PC, PS4, and PS5.

First announced at The Game Awards 2020 for PS5, Season: A letter to the future is an atmospheric coming-of-age adventure game where you play as Estella, a young woman determined to capture the Season of life before everything comes to an end. 

Final Fantasy 16

• Release date - Summer 2023
• Platforms - PS5

Since its announcement at PlayStation Games Showcase in September 2020, fans have been craving new info on the 16th mainline entry in the Final Fantasy series.

Thankfully, during the June 2022 PlayStation Showcase, Square Enix finally gave an update on Final Fantasy 16 via a new trailer showcasing its incredibly polished real-time melee combat and a glimpse of the gigantic battles between various Eikons.
