Developer Ironwood Studios has yet another reason to celebrate ahead of the first anniversary of their indie debut release, Pacific Drive, which recently reached a new milestone. This milestone is yet another monumental achievement the developer has accomplished on top of multiple award nominations throughout 2024, including nods at the Golden Joysticks, Game Developers Choice (GDC) Awards, and The Game Awards, and was recently longlisted at the BAFTAs Games Awards.
Awards aside, Pacific Drive will be celebrating its first anniversary this month, and we're hoping for an update on the game's television adaptation and more game-related news. As for what's next for Ironwood Studios and Pacific Drive, there is something big on the horizon that players can look forward to, with a major game update arriving at the Olympic Exclusion Zone soon.
Ironwood Studios posted to their official social media accounts on 19th February 2025 that their indie debut release, Pacific Drive, has sold one million copies across all platforms. The survival game released in February 2024 continued to be supported by the developer, with three major game updates and multiple customization packs available to help players further customize their vehicle to deter any obstacles and threats within the Olympic Exclusion Zone.
As more players are delving into the Olympic Exclusion Zone for the first time or reimmersing themselves in its compelling story, atmospheric environment, and gorgeous soundtrack, the developers continue to tread away, working on the next major game update coming soon to Pacific Drive. The fourth major game update for Pacific Drive is set to launch for PlayStation 5 consoles and PC via the Epic Games Store and Steam shortly; however, no release date has been confirmed, but with the game's first anniversary occurring on 22nd February 2025, it may be possible that news could be revealed then.
With Pacific Drive's first anniversary around the corner, and so is the next game update, the developer is also working closely with production company Atomic Monster. This is mainly due to an announcement made in December 2024 that the game is receiving an adaptation for television helmed by director James Wan, but it's yet to be determined if it will be a live-action or animated adaptation.
