New Silent Hill game rumors - Everything fans need to know

After waiting for years for a new game, fans of Silent Hill had a taste of a new game in the series when the playable demo for P.T. was released in 2014. After P.T. was abruptly canceled, dedicated fans of the series have been wondering when a new Silent Hill game will be released. 

Recent unconfirmed image leaks have fueled fans' longtime rumors, and suggest that a possible Silent Hill game is in development. Here is everything we know about the images, what the leaks could imply about the upcoming game, and what fans are saying.

Rumored new Silent Hill game in development

On 12th May 2022, Twitter user Dusk Golem, a known video game leaker, posted four images that were reportedly associated with an ongoing Silent Hill game in development.

The images featured a young adult girl with tape on her face with phrases like "I hate myself," an image of a trashed, dirty room, and an unsettling hallway with countless notes on the walls.

"There's a lot I'm not sharing for now," the leaker explained. "This is from a relatively new source for me, but I have been given more than enough proof to believe them."

They further explained that the characters "Anita and Maya" could be involved, as well as a heavy theme of "SMS Messages."

After just a few days, Konami filed a DMCA complaint, forcing Twitter to remove the images from the Tweet. Konami's choice to take action had many fans wondering if the leaks were in fact real, and related to Silent Hill.

Silent Hill 2 remake rumors

Among the rumors surrounding a potential new Silent Hill game are those surrounding a potential Silent Hill 2 remake.

These rumors arose after Bloober Team, a known horror game developer, announced a partnership with Konami in 2021.

“We can’t comment on anything we are doing because we appreciate our relationship with our partners, of course. So we can’t [say] anything," Bloober Team's CEO told IGN in an interview earlier this month. "We will make an announcement about our future projects as soon as we can."

Bloober Team will make an announcement at next week's Playstation Summer Game Fest, leading many fans to believe that their announcement may in fact be a Silent Hill 2 remake for the Playstation 5.
