As you start earning new gear in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, you may notice that many of the new weapon branches will require Awegite in order to upgrade. You would think that getting a hold of Awegite would be a more complicated process of the expansion, but you won't even need to go to a new expansion area.
Awegite is collected or farmed as a metal material, so you will need to find Outcrops around the Monster Hunter Rise world to get what you want. But you can't just search any area in the game, it has to be the Shrine Ruins to get the metals you need.
Where to find Awegite in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak
The Shrine Ruins are the locale that will have the Awegite you want within the mining outcrops scattered around the area. Shrine Ruins is the locale that is first introduced in Monster Hunter Rise and it's also where Sunbreak begins as hunters take on the Daimyo Hermitaur.
One important distinction though is the ranking of the locale. There is no confirmation just yet on how ranking affects the Shrine Ruins, but the Master Rank version may be the better route for finding Awegite. This can be done by going to the Elgado Outpost and initiating an expedition with the Quest Hub NPC.

Once you're in the Shrine Ruins, there are 11 mining outcrops you can search for in the area. Six are on the normal forest floor, and five are on the second layer of the forest that requires hunters to climb up. You can immediately find a Great Wirebug in the base camp that will bring you to a mining outcrop in the second layer of the forest.
If you leave the camp and search the bamboo clearing in zone one, you will find a second outcrop there as well. For an even easier find in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, head to the back of the map and follow the path up towards the cliffs where you will find a few more near some Kelbi small monsters. Zone five is another option that will have plenty of spawns.
Keep in mind that these outcrops will respawn and replenish as you move around the map, but it will take some time. The color of the mining outcrop also won't matter, and you'll see if you earned Awegite on the right side of your screen.
With the Awegite in hand, you can bring the materials to any Blacksmith and select the weapon upgrade option. The most common use for the metal will be in the Kamura tree which was introduced with Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak. However, you'll notice you need the material for other branches down the line.
