Metaphor: ReFantazio has been on multiple Game of the Year lists in 2024 and is well-deserved; it launched to critical acclaim globally. The fantasy RPG developed by Studio Zero with joint publishing by SEGA and Atlus, the studio behind the Persona series, in October 2024, garnered massive positive reviews from critics and players, and now it will be expanding to a new medium.

Metaphor fans will be delighted to hear that the series will be adapted for a new medium, although many players and fans have asked for an anime adaptation. While this has yet to be confirmed or announced, the latest Metaphor adaptation arrives much sooner than players think.

According to a Twitter post by the popular manga reading service Manga Plus, the fantasy RPG Metaphor: ReFantazio has been announced to receive a manga adaptation. The manga reading service announced that not only is the Metaphor: ReFantazio manga launching to the service on 21st January 2025, but it will also have a simultaneous release launch to both Western and Japanese audiences.

This means that the manga will readily be available to Western and Japanese audiences on the aforementioned date, as this manga reading service is reportedly free to read ongoing titles, but it does have Standard and Deluxe tiers to gain access to more manga. It's unclear as of writing if this will be a one-shot or an Ongoing series, but we'll provide further updates to confirm this as soon as details are announced.

According to comments made by Metaphor: ReFantazio game director and writer Katsura Hashino (h/t Weekly Famitsu Magazine via Persona Central), he revealed goals on possibly expanding the game into a potential sequel. Adding that he would like Metaphor to become another successful franchise akin to Shin Megami Tensei and Persona, there has been no word or confirmation if SEGA and Atlus want to continue the riveting story in subsequent sequels.
