After a long wait since its last instalment released on the Wii in 2007, the Mario Strikers franchise will return to Nintendo consoles once again, after the reveal of a new edition for the Switch.
Surprisingly, and under the title of Mario Strikers: Battle League, the players of the hybrid console will have the opportunity of playing in this crazy football title, where superpowers and your skills will be the order of the day in each match.
Mario Strikers: Battle League details
Through a trailer revealed during the latest Nintendo Direct, we were able to see some of the first details of its characteristic gameplay, which will retain its arcade-style with teams of 5 against 5, commanded by some of the well-known characters of the Japanese company.
However, there will also be various elements being added to the title this time around, starting with customizing your team in its Battle League mode, allowing you to modify all of your captains' stats by putting different types of armour on them.
From the helmet to the arms, through the chest and ending with the shoes, each of these elements can increase or decrease the strength, speed, the ability to shoot and pass, and even the effectiveness of their special techniques, the Hyper Strikes.
Each captain will have their own Hyper Strike, which can be activated by picking up an Orb on the field. To activate it, you simply have to charge it taking advantage of oversight of your opponents, and if your timing is correct, you can unleash a devastating shot that, if it manages to enter the opponent's goal, will be worth two points instead of one.
Add to that a myriad of classic Super Mario items at your disposal, such as shells and bananas, which will help you disable opposing players and allow you to score more easily.
Another of the important changes that will come to Mario Strikers: Battle League will be its emphasis on multiplayer, as up to eight people can play locally on a single console, while in its online mode, players can be part of the new Online Clubs.
These will serve as a kind of clans for up to 20 people, in which you can play in online competitions and rankings to show who is the best in the world.
