Katanaut, a new action roguelite game by Voidmaw LLC, has released its demo, giving players a chance to experience its fast-paced combat and exploration. Set on a massive space station in disarray after a mysterious accident, players must navigate ever-shifting levels filled with hostile enemies, all while trying to uncover the truth behind the disaster that has twisted its former inhabitants into terrifying creatures.
The demo leads into Katanaut’s participation in Steam Next Fest this February, where players will get to try out the upcoming game that combines elements of metroidvania and action-platformers. As players descend deeper into the station, they'll encounter more dangerous foes and haunting surroundings, and have to use combat to keep themselves alive.
Katanaut provides players with a variety of unlockable weapons, abilities, and perks that can be used to tailor their playstyle. The game's roguelite mechanics mean that every death brings new opportunities for experimentation, with different weapons and abilities available to be unlocked as players progress.
In addition to its challenging gameplay, Katanaut features pixel-art visuals designed to create an immersive and unsettling atmosphere. A synthwave soundtrack accompanies the action, enhancing the tense, high-stakes environment as players fight to survive.
The demo is available now, offering an early look at the game’s core mechanics and the dangers lurking within the space station. Katanaut is expected to release in full later this year, with more updates and details to be revealed.
