The era of classic survival horror games like Silent Hill and Resident Evil might be over, but some developers still like to pay homage to the genre with new games in 2022.

Hollowbody, a project by independent developers Headware games, is a great example of one of those blasts to the past. The recently-announced game is in development and set to release in the near future.

Here is everything we know so far about the upcoming survival horror game Hollowbody, including its release date, gameplay, plot, and platforms. 

Hollowbody Gameplay and Plot

Hollowbody will be a story-based third-person survival horror game that players will be able to complete in around three hours. It looks akin to Silent Hill 2 and 3, and the developer acknowledges their inspiration, noting that the gameplay is similar to classic survival horror games.

Hollowbody is “set in the urban decay of a long-abandoned British city,” offering a modern, tech-noir twist on classic survival horror.

In order to escape the city you’re trapped in, you’ll need to complete puzzles, manage your items properly, and fight off terrifying foes. It certainly seems like this game won't be one for the faint of heart.

Hollowbody Release Date and Platforms

Hollowbody is planned to release on PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG. Hollowbody is not currently planned for release on any consoles.

The developer plans to release Hollowbody in 2023, according to the game’s official store pages on Steam and Epic Games. 

Hollowbody Kickstarter

Hollowbody is a solo project by Headware Games, which released another psychological horror game, Chasing Static, in late 2021.

The developer released a Kickstarter for Hollowbody, asking for $17,368 to complete the game. As of 1st September, the Kickstarter has reached $10,011. The Kickstarter will run until 30th September 2022.
