Hellboy: Web Of Wyrd Announced At The Game Awards 2022

Hellboy: Web Of Wyrd has been officially announced at The Game Awards 2022. The game is a third-person roguelite action adventure, which sees players play as the titular Hellboy, with Lance Reddick voicing the character. Moreover, Hellboy: Web Of Wyrd features an original Hellboy story created in partnership with comics artist Mike Mignola and Dark Horse Comics.

While a firm release date has not been unveiled, the title is currently in development for PC, PlayStation 4|5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch platforms. The game will be developed by the UK-based independent game studio Upstream Arcade and promises to be "an authentic Hellboy experience" enough to entice new and old fans.

Hellboy: Web Of Wyrd will feature "monstrous toe-to-toe brawling," sending Hellboy "on a series of vastly different and wholly unique adventures." According to the game's official Steam page, Hellboy: Web Of Wyrd will center around the mysterious legacy of The Butterfly House, built in 1962 by occultist Pasquale Deneveaux.

"The Butterfly House is more than a mere residence; it’s a gateway. Its perverse angles and non-Euclidean geometries were designed with a singular foul purpose in mind: to open doorways into a terrible and fascinating dimension called The Wyrd. Twenty years later, an agent of the B.P.R.D. is sent on a reconnaissance mission to the mansion and promptly goes missing."

Followingly, it will be up to the player to find their missing colleagues and ultimately uncover The Butterly House's secrets. Amanda Kruse, publishing director of Good Shepherd Entertainment, spoke about adapting the comics to a game:
