Progressing through these missions will see them unlock Specialists, outposts, and various skills, but a change of pace is needed, which can be explored in Free Roam mode.

How To Unlock The Free Roam Mode In Expeditions: A Mudrunner Game?
Expeditions: A Mudrunner Game features multiple expedition missions for players to complete, and in doing so, they get to unlock more vehicles, base camp upgrades, Specialists, and more. These unlockables will significantly aid them during their explorations of Little Colorado, Arizona, and the Carpathians; however, all the research missions can get overwhelming, so they need a change of pace.
This is where Free Roam comes into play, but players won't be able to explore these areas freely at the start of the game. Free Roam allows players to discover new locations, locate Airdrops, visit beautiful vistas, and set up and upgrade their base game without any restrictions.
Unlocking them will require players to progress through the game's first few expeditions for all three maps, Little Colorado, Arizona, and the Carpathians, by meeting specific requirements. More specifically, they must accept the Stone Ford expedition in Little Colorado, the Breaking Brad expedition in Arizona, and The Balance of Nature expedition at the Carpathians by completing its objectives, and the Free Roam mode will be unlocked.
Each expedition will have unique requirements to help players complete them and can influence which off-roading vehicle to use for this purpose and what gadgets, like a Jack-Screw and Anchor, to bring along in case they encounter issues. While they can potentially enlist the services of a Specialist for this expedition, we advise not to waste resources reasonably early in the game and instead wait until Arizona and the Carpathians areas to utilize them best.
The Step 310E, TUZ 16 Actaeon, and the Loadstar 1700 SE are great vehicle options for these expeditions due to their high suspension, and be sure to customize the vehicle by equipping a flatbed for extra storage if needed. Once the necessary setup has been made, they can begin the expedition of exploring a lake near the camp by following the objectives towards its completion and unlocking the Free Roam mode.
