Capcom Showcase Reveals Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta Details, Onimusha 2 Remaster And More

Japanese publisher Capcom held back-to-back Spotlight and Monster Hunter Wilds showcase events, in which they unpacked their upcoming releases, provided updates on projects in development, and revealed new announcements. Before announcing these events, they confirmed that the featured games in this presentation were Capcom Fighting Collection 2, MARVEL vs. CAPCOM Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics, Monster Hunter Wilds, and Onimusha: Way of the Sword.

The combined presentations, which run for around 33 minutes total, also provided additional information for Street Fighter 6, including Fatal Fury's Mai Shiranui update release and a new Capcom bundle featuring Ōkami and Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess available now. Lastly, some esports news as Capcom Cup 11, Street Fighter's premier tournament, returns between 5th and 9th March 2025 in Tokyo, Japan, with a $1 million grand prize on the line.

According to Capcom's official press release, another Monster Hunter Wilds beta is coming soon, and players will get access to various gameplay content, including hunting and challenging the “White Wraith Arkveld. The Open Beta will also feature the returning Gypceros, access to the Base Camp’s Training Area, and other online gameplay features like the online single-player mode and private multiplayer lobbies as pre-orders for Monster Hunter Wilds are now live.

During the Capcom Spotlight event, the Japanese publisher confirmed that MARVEL vs. CAPCOM Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics is heading to Xbox One, the final last-gen platform, as it's officially available digitally for PC via Steam, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. On the subject of fighting gaming classics, they also announced Capcom Fighting Collection 2, which launches as digital and physical versions on 16th May 2025 for PC via Steam, PS4, Xbox One, and pre-orders have gone live.

Capcom revealed more details for Onimusha: Way of the Sword through a Developer Message package, highlighting its compelling dark fantasy setting by introducing a new protagonist, varied enemies, its scenic and historical location of Kyoto, and the thrilling and satisfying sword fighting combat. As this next entry in the Onimusha series heads to consoles and PC via Steam sometime in 2026, they also announced development for Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny Remaster, which is slated for release in 2025 for PC via Steam, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
