Baldur’s Gate 3 has been officially delayed beyond August 2020.
After being scheduled for an early access release in August, developer Larian Studios has confirmed Baldur’s Gate 3 will be pushed back to an unspecified date.
The game’s new release date however will be announced on 18th August at a Panel From Hell event, hosted by Geoff Keighley with creators of the title.
Good news and bad news. BG3 won’t hit August, but it’s just around the corner. We’ll be announcing the release date, as well as big news on the Panel From Hell alongside @geoffkeighley, @LarAtLarian and the Larian crew. Tune in Aug 18th. https://t.co/S1RlVpJ8yw pic.twitter.com/NCkrnHHpH0

They’re also promising some “big news” at the event outside the release date, which will is scheduled for Tuesday 18th August at 10am PT/6pm BST.
It doesn’t sound like the release date will be too far off though, describing it as “just around the corner”.
The delay doesn’t come as a huge surprise however, considering Larian Studios’ Director of Publishing, Michael Douse, recently told players to “be wary” about pre-ordering the title at the moment.
Be wary of preordering BG3 anywhere right now. We won't have a pre-order period. We have no plans to work with retail yet, and no 3rd party distributors. Haven't announced a price or date. We can't guarantee you'll get anything from them.
