The original Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate 2 might be coming to Xbox Game Pass if a new rumor is anything to go by. Interestingly, this comes off right before the long-awaited release of Baldur's Gate 3.
The rumor comes via a Reddit post from user, The_Michael_Angelo, who claims to have gotten a notification about Baldur's Gate 1 & 2 coming to Game Pass. What's more, several other users commented on the post and claimed to have received a similar notification despite the games not being currently available on Xbox's subscription service.
Shadow-dropping BG 1 & 2 on Game Pass doesn't seem too far-fetched, and the timing feels perfect. BG 3 currently doesn't have a release date on the current-gen Xbox consoles because the studio has been facing difficulties porting to the game on those platforms, primarily Xbox Series S.
While speaking on the Friends Per Second podcast recently, Larian Studios founder Swen Vincke confirmed that there's a team working on the game's Xbox version, though didn't commit to a concrete release window.
While BG 3 news on Xbox is disappointing, releasing BG 1 & 2 on Game Pass feels like the ideal conciliation prize for the Xbox community. That being said, Xbox hasn't confirmed anything as of yet, so this piece of info should be taken with a grain of salt. We will update this article if this story develops.
