Fighting games fans are gearing up to enjoy the forthcoming MultiVersus Closed Alpha period, which is set to start on 19th May, giving players of Xbox, PlayStation, and PC the opportunity to try out the free-to-play platform fighter.
One of the most enticing aspects of MultiVersus is its vast cast of playable characters, based on properties owned by Warner Bros. From Looney Tunes to DC Comics superheroes, popular shows like Game of Thrones, or even cartoons like Scooby-Doo, Adventure Time, and more, it's a crossover that promises to rival Smash.
With some confirmed icons such as Batman, Superman, and Shaggy, Player First Games revealed two more fighters joining the MultiVersus roster: the Iron Giant, Looney Tunes' Taz, and Scooby-Doo's Velma.
MultiVersus full roster
As of the time of writing, there are 16 confirmed characters for MultiVersus. Player First Games has said they plan to continuously update the roster post-launch, however, this does not mean the full list of playable characters at launch has been revealed.

The MultiVersus roster is as follows:
- Batman (DC)
- Superman (DC)
- Wonder Woman (DC)
- Harley Quinn (DC)
- Velma (Scooby-Doo)
- Shaggy (Scooby-Doo)
- Arya Stark (Game of Thrones)
- Bugs Bunny (Looney Tunes)
- Taz (Looney Tunes)
- Finn The Human (Adventure Time)
- Jake The Dog (Adventure Time)
- Garnet (Steven Universe)
- Steven Universe (Steven Universe)
- Tom & Jerry (Tom & Jerry)
- The Iron Giant
- Reindog (Original character)
One of the most interesting aspects of MultiVersus gameplay-wise is that, unlike other fighting games, this one puts an emphasis on team play, being developed as a 2v2 fighter first and foremost.
Each character has an archetype that's more similar to a MOBA than an actual fighting game. There are Bruisers, like Batman or Taz, Tanks, like The Iron Giant or Wonder Woman, Supports, like Velma or Reindog, and Mage/Ranged, like Bugs Bunny or Tom & Jerry.
The idea is that by mixing and matching different characters, teams can find a perfect balance of offensive tools and defensive options to beat their opponents.
Be sure to stay tuned to this page once more characters are revealed, as we'll be updating it constantly ahead of MultiVersus' official launch and beyond.
