Mark “Scruffy” Yetter, one of the best-known names within Riot Games both for his close contact with the community and for his previews on each League of Legends update, has decided to leave his position as Lead Gameplay Designer of the game after eight years.
However, beyond the impact of the news given his big popularity, this became known by Scruffy as he will transition to a new role within Riot, being named as the new game director of Riot Games' upcoming MMO.

With the introduction of Scruffy to the MMO team, he has become one of the major names within Riot to be a part of it, having worked with Riot since 2013 as Lead Champion Update Designer, Lead Champion Designer, and Lead Gameplay Designer.
Prior to this, Scruffy was also part of Treyarch's design team during the development of the iconic shooter title Call of Duty: Black Ops II.

“Personally, working on League for the last 8 years has been the honour of my life,” Scruffy added in his announcement. “The talented dev team and the passionate players like you have been a critical part of building and improving my favourite game. I've enjoyed every day of it so far and I'm looking forward to our next big adventure together. ”
In addition to Scruffy, another community-recognized Rioter will also be part of the MMO development team, with Greg “Ghostcrawler” Street serving as Executive Producer on the project.
Like Scruffy, Ghostcrawler has been part of Riot Games since 2013, where he has been in charge of different areas, including Lead Gameplay Designer, Design Director and currently is the Vice President of IP & Entertainment, where he has collaborated on the launches of audiovisual media within the League of Legends universe.

So far it is unknown who will be the one to take Scruffy's place, but in his own words, the level of transparency, quality and openness of the Gameplay team is expected to remain the same as now.
