While some fans were upset by the UFC 5 roster at launch, the game continues to expand as new sets of fighters are added in each update. Since the title arrived in late October 2024, seven different fighters were already added in previous roster updates.
Now the February UFC 5 roster update has three more on the way, but it could be the last we see for some time. We'll break down who is being added next and whether that'll complete the UFC 5 roster.
February UFC 5 Roster Update Adds 3 Fighters
Just days after UFC 5 was released, developers responded to criticisms of the game's launch roster being too similar to UFC 4 and promised the roster would continue to grow. EA Sports revealed that a UFC 5 roster update was already on deck for December, January, and February.
The December UFC 5 roster update was first up, and it added both Yan Xiaonan and Amir Albazi to the fighter lineup. The January UFC 5 roster update was their largest by adding Ian Machado Garry, Mike Malott, Charles Jourdain, Mayra Bueno Silva, and Jailton Almeida.
We're now finally due for the February UFC 5 roster update to add Bryce Mitchell, Maycee Barber, and Joe Pyfer. EA Sports has not yet confirmed a release date for this update, but both of the previous ones were in the first half of their announced release month. Looking at the timing of each, we predict this UFC 5 roster update will be announced on Thursday, February 8 with a release on February 9.
However, they could easily push it to later in the month if additional refinement is needed on the models. There will be questions from fans about whether this is the last of their UFC 5 roster updates, so they could also wait until late February to finalize an announcement on future additions.
Bryce Mitchell
Known to some as Thug Nasty, Bryce Mitchell first leveraged an undefeated professional MMA record to be chosen as part of The Ultimate Fighter: Undefeated. While he took an exhibition loss to eventual winner Brad Katona, Mitchell was signed and his UFC career was dominant from the jump.
Mitchell racked up a four fight winning streak once he joined the UFC, but a loss to Ilia Topuria in December 2022 and a recent loss to Josh Emmett in December 2023 have dinged his perfect professional record. He remains at #10 on the UFC Featherweight rankings and would likely join the game at that weight class.
Maycee Barber
After breaking into MMA in the Legacy Fighting Alliance, Maycee Barber leveraged her 4-0 record to compete in Dana White's Contender Series 13 back in July 2018. A third-round TKO on Audrey Perkins was enough for a contract, and Barber followed it up with three straight UFC victories including her flyweight debut against JJ Aldrich.
Barber hit a bump in the road with early 2020 and 2021 losses to Roxanne Modafferi and Alexa Grasso, but she's been on a winning streak that most recently saw her defeat Amanda Ribas in June 2023 in the Performance of the Night. Barber, who is #6 on the UFC Women's Flyweight rankings, is set to face #4 ranked Katlyn Cerminara at UFC 299 on March 9, 2024. Once Barber is live in the game, players will be able to try that fight for themselves as Cerminara is already on the roster.
Joe Pyfer
Get ready to put your opponents down for good as "Bodybagz" Joe Pyfer is due in the next UFC 5 roster update. Pyfer is on a five fight winning streak, and that includes three straight UFC victories that culminated with his second-round submission win over Abdul Razak Alhassan back at UFC Fight Night in October 2023.
With his clash against Jack Hermansson set for UFC Fight Night on February 10, 2024, we'll hopefully see the February UFC 5 roster update deployed ahead of that event. Hermansson is already a part of the game's middleweight roster, so that fight will be playable once Pyfer is added.
