After some heavy criticism was lobbed at the UFC 5 roster around launch, EA Sports continues to update the roster with new fighters. Five previously announced additions are on the way, but that's not the only thing happening in this UFC 5 update.

Developers continue to listen to player feedback about core gameplay, and this UFC 5 patch update has impactful changes on the yet again. Striking and grappling are both being altered, and it means players will need to adjust their strategies once this patch goes live.

If you feel like you've finally got the UFC 5 gameplay locked down, get ready to make some changes. The January UFC 5 patch update has been announced, and the patch notes reveal that striking is being nerfed once again.

Body strike damage has been significantly decreased, but they're upgrading how much body strikes affect stamina. Moving forward, body strikes will be more strategic for targeting stamina drain instead of actual damage. They've also improved the speed and evasiveness of ducking, which will make some powerful head strikes more difficult to land.

Negative Grapple Advantage will no longer slow you down, which is aimed to make keeping opponents on the ground more difficult moving forward. While the Ground Striking attribute will now impact your damage more, damage has been lowered overall for elbows on the ground.

All of these changes are due to go live on Friday, January 12, 2024 at approximately 10am PT. You can find the full UFC 5 patch notes here for more details about these gameplay changes.
