Witchers utilize a select few weaponry and skills to make monster hunting effective and straightforward to earn that precious coin. The Witcher Signs, much like the Silver and Steel swords, are the backbone of every Witcher’s combat skills and can be used in various situations.
In the next-gen update for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, developer CD Projekt RED made things easier for players to access and utilize these signs with the Quick Sign Casting mechanic. Here’s how to enable Quick Casting in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
How To Enable Quick Sign Casting In The Witcher 3
CD Projekt RED finally made casting Witcher Signs more streamlined in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt by introducing the Quick Casting mechanic. This feature allows players to access all Geralt’s Witcher Signs without navigating to the in-game menu to utilize against enemies and monsters.
Previously, various mods have brought this functionality to the game post-launch, but with the v4.00 (Next-Gen) update, it’s a permanent feature. Enabling it is just as simple to achieve, and it can be done from the main menu or the in-game pause menu screen.
- Navigate to the main or pause menu screen and select the “Options”sub-menu
- Scroll down the list of available options and select “Gameplay.”
- Browse through the various gameplay settings for the “Quick Sign Casting.”
- You can enable this feature or disable it if you wish not to use it in-game.
Veteran Witcher players will indeed best utilize this mechanic, especially during intense combat situations, but for new players, we advise disabling it and working with the default sign-casting settings. On the other hand, if you’re returning to the Continent and are still quite rusty with the game’s combat mechanics, then keeping this feature off could be the best option to reintroduce you using Witcher Signs.
What Are The Witcher Signs In The Witcher 3?
Geralt utilizes these single-handed signs in combat situations in various scenarios, whether offensive or defensive. Each sign has a unique purpose and, once upgraded using Ability Points, can enhance its effects, its duration and unlock alternate variations of the signs.
- Aard: Deals a wave of telekinetic energy to enemies, knocking or stunning them, like large creatures or flying monsters
- Axii: A hex-like ability that can either influence minds or can be used to tame creatures or calm Roach in stressful situations
- Igni: This pyrokinetic ability deals fire damage to monsters and enemies that are vulnerable
- Quen: The most widely used sign gives Geralt a protective shield and, when upgraded, can heal him over time
- Yrden: This sign traps spectral monsters within an AoE, making their forms most susceptible to physical attacks
To upgrade these signs, access the in-game pause menu and scroll down to the “Character” option. This opens up the Character Skill Tree, in which you can purchase and equip abilities and upgrade them using Ability Points.
All the Witcher Signs can be upgraded from the “Signs” Skill Tree using Ability Points and if you wish to use it in combat, activate the sign in the allocated slot available. You can earn Ability Points by visiting Places of Powers, completing main and side quests, eliminating enemies and monsters, increasing your level, and gaining more points by leveling up.
