Lords of the Fallen, an upcoming dark fantasy RPG, serves as the sequel to the 2014 game of the same name. While it draws inspiration from the Souls series, commonly referred to as Souls-like games, many are curious about the extent of this influence. One specific aspect of interest is the addition of a New Game Plus (NG+) mode, a characteristic commonly found in Souls-like games to enhance the game's difficulty.

If you're interested in purchasing Lords of the Fallen upon its release later this month and wish to determine whether it includes NG+ content, you've come to the right place. Below, we will delve into everything we currently know about the incorporation of a New Game Plus mode in Lords of the Fallen.

Is there A New Game Plus mode in Lords of the Fallen?

To provide a clear answer to this question, Lords of the Fallen will indeed incorporate a New Game+ mode once players complete their initial playthrough of the game. This confirmation comes from a recent interview with the developers by Wccftech. In this interview, Cezar Virtosu, the Creative Director at HexWorks, and Saul Gascon, Head of Studio and Executive Producer for Lords of the Fallen, shed light on this aspect.

When asked whether there would be a New Game Plus mode available after completing the game, they affirmed by stating, "Yes. Every time you do an NG plus run, the world forgets about your previous choices, right? So you start fresh, and you can make different decisions on your second or third playthrough."

Nevertheless, the alterations introduced in New Game Plus extend far beyond simply ramping up the challenge posed by enemies. The developers have clarified that, unlike the standard game where you have access to more Vestiges (comparable to the "Bonfires" in the Souls series) for assistance, in NG Plus, Vestige Seedlings will take their place. These seedlings function as makeshift camps but come with a twist – they are not stationary.

If you wish to change their location, you must uproot them and replant them elsewhere. This dynamic adds an extra layer of complexity to your current playthrough, as death will penalize you by respawning you at your last seedling position. This nuanced gameplay element intensifies the difficulty, ensuring that players face consequences for their actions and decisions in NG Plus.

As stated by the developers: "In the regular game, you have more Vestiges to help you out, but on NG Plus, you will not have them. It'll be just that one, so it's kind of the original vision. On top of this, there are other changes to the core gameplay that move the game more toward the original vision. It's more hardcore. Playing NG Plus allows you to make different choices, but the way you approach the game is also different."

In essence, New Game Plus in Lords of the Fallen isn't solely about ramping up the difficulty; it's a comprehensive transformation of the game's mechanics and dynamics. It introduces fresh challenges for players embarking on their second playthrough and beyond. As a result, players should prepare themselves, as NG+ in Lords of the Fallen will put their skills and strategies to the test to a greater degree than before.
