Starfield Shattered Space Release Date Speculation

Bethesda's massive space RPG, Starfield, was released on 1 September 2023 (early access) with a full launch on 6 September 2023, and it has already seen great success in terms of player numbers and reviews.

As you can see from the image above, Starfield's first story expansion, Shattered Space, has already been confirmed, and those who purchased the Premium or Constellation edition will have access to the expansion once it is released.

Please note: There is no official release date for Starfield's Shattered Space story expansion at the time of writing. We speculate on the possible release date window below.

Bethesda released The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim's first expansion, Dawnguard, eight (8) months after the game's launch. Further, Fallout 4's first DLC (Automatron) was released six (6) months after the game's launch. 

Therefore, we expect a six to eight-month window from 6 September 2023 before Shattered Space's release. As a guestimate, we suspect Starfield Shattered Space to be released sometime between March and June 2024.

With that being said, we will update this section once official information becomes available. It is always possible that Starfield's first story expansion could be released earlier, as clearly, it has been planned for quite some time in advance since it is part of the Premium Edition content.

Starfield Shattered Space Story & Content

4 September 2023 update: At the time of writing, there's no indication of exactly what the Shattered Space story expansion content for Starfield will entail but we will update you as soon as we learn more. This section is based on speculation.

Shattered Space is officially called a "Story Expansion," which confirms we will get new quests, possibly following the game's initial story or one of the factions. We speculate that this could be a rather big DLC with over a dozen hours of content and will likely include new planets.

We will likely see story content for the United Colonies (UC) and the Freestar Collective factions as the fight continues. Maybe there will be more artifacts to find for The Constellation as well. Whatever Starfield's Shattered Space will deliver, we are already excited!

Will Starfield's Shattered Space on Xbox Game Pass?

It is too early to tell if the Shattered Space DLC will be released for Xbox Game Pass subscribers. Our initial theory is that no, it will not, as it is paid DLC. Generally speaking, game expansions, especially new ones, do not land on Xbox Game Pass at launch. However, it is not impossible that Starfield's story expansions will, after some time, come to Xbox Game Pass for PC and Xbox consoles.
