What Is Roblox Forgotten Memories & Why Is It So Scary?

Forgotten Memories is a horror game on Roblox with all the familiar elements of Scott Cawthon's popular game Five Nights at Freddy’s (FNAF). In a way, it is a FNAF look-a-like with a few key differences, but it will still have you clutching your mouse in fear. 

Five Nights at Freddy’s has many adaptations, ranging from canon to fan-made custom horror knockoffs, each equally terrifying. Forgotten Memories is one of those adaptations, picking up steam ahead of Halloween.

In this article, I'll explain why you should play the Roblox game Forgotten Memories and answer the burning question of why it's so scary.

What Is Forgotten Memories In Roblox?

Since its release earlier this year, Roblox Forgotten Memories has garnered worldwide attention. The game is set in the same Freddy Fazebear pizzeria, with all the same terrifying Animatronic Bears.

However, the difference between the two games is that in Forgotten Memories, you will die if you run out of oxygen. In the game, you will be given a flashlight and need to scamper in search of batteries hidden around the pizzeria. You'll also be tasked to check and restart Generators.

In addition, Forgotten Memories will have players attempt to survive 13 nights instead of 5, like Five Nights at Freddy’s, making it arguably more terrifying. Beyond this, Roblox Forgotten Memories also contains loads of jump scares, flashing lights, and loud noises -- so you've been warned.

If you've never played a Five Nights at Freddy’s game, you'll be happy to know that it's mostly just an easy-to-play point-and-click game. The main premise of this game is to survive all five nights without being caught by the various Animatronics, and Roblox Forgotten Memories isn't any different. So what makes it so scary?

Why Is Forgotten Memories So Scary?

There are a few reasons why Forgotten Memories is so scary. The first would be the Animatronics are splitting images of those in FNAF; these hulking broken-down robots will follow you as you make your way through the pizzeria and kill you at a moment's notice. 

Another reason why Forgotten Memories is so scary is the suspense. Right as you begin the game, Marionette will be behind the curtain in a massive gift box. If you don't close the curtain in time, she will slowly creep up to you and give you a jumpscare. This scare is made even scarier when your flashlight runs out of batteries.

Roblox Forgotten Memories is also one of the few games that really push the boundaries of what is possible visually. The game has stunning detail and graphics and feels like it's made in more advanced game engines like Unreal. This adds an extra layer of realism and fear, which doesn't compare to previous FNAF adaptations. (don't believe me, watch the video below!)

And lastly, perhaps the most pressing reason horror games like Roblox Forgotten Memories are so scary is the lack of music. Forgotten Memories is best played in a dark room with headphones; this not only amplifies your experience, but you’ll also hear the sounds of the Animatronics moving and whispering.
