Capcom's 2023 Resident Evil 4 Remake was a massive success, with Capcom even going out of their way to introduce a new DLC, Separate Ways, after the game's release. The current "REnaissance," if you will, has many players wondering if more Resident Evil remakes are on the way - and Capcom has finally confirmed that yes, more Resident Evil remakes are coming!
Aside from the Resident Evil 4 remake announcement and release themselves, this might just be the most exciting news of 2023 for Resident Evil fans - but what titles in the Resident Evil series will be next in the list of remakes?
In an interview with IGN at the PlayStation partner awards program, RE4 remake director Yashuiro Anpo addressed the question of more Resident Evil remakes, stating, "Yes, we've released three remakes so far, and they have all been received very well."
He continued, "Since it allows a modern audience to play these games, it is something I am happy to do as someone that loves these older games, and we want to continue doing more. What game we will remake in the future is something that we would like to announce in the future, so please look forward to it.”
So, while we know that more Resident Evil remakes are coming, it's unclear as to which game will be the subject of the next remake. The RE2, RE3, and RE4 remakes have both been quite successful, though Capcom has yet to make a proper remake of Resident Evil 1 or Resident Evil 5, the latter of which is the series' best-selling title. Another title many fans have requested to see a remake of is RE: Code Veronica, which is technically an RE spinoff featuring Chris and Claire Redfield, but remains a fan favorite.
