Resident Evil 9 could be coming sooner than many expected, a new page for the game on Metacritic suggests. Capcom confirmed that Resident Evil 9 is on the way during July's Capcom Next showcase, but fans got no details on the game whatsoever at that time - the announcement didn't include any character names or story details. However, it seems that might change quite soon, with the RE9 Metacritic page suddenly popping up.
As observed by Horror Game Central on X/Twitter, this wouldn't be the first time a Resident Evil announcement leaked this way. Back in December 2023, fans discovered a Metacritic page for Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition. Less than two months later, on February 1, 2024, Capcom officially announced the game. This suggests that the Metacritic page created for RE9 could truly be a peek into what's to come.
Though it's mostly barren, fans have already gleaned some info from the new Metacritic page. It notes that Resident Evil 9 will be available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in the "Platforms" section - but doesn't mention PC. It's possible that this means we won't get a PC release, but it seems more likely that the platform just hasn't been listed yet.
Horror Game Central speculated that an announcement could come at The Game Awards this December - leaving fans to wait for just a little under two months. But nothing's confirmed quite yet, aside from Capcom's announcement back in July in that the game is in development. For now, fans will have to wait a bit longer for an official announcement from Capcom regarding the new RE9 leaks.
