The PUBG Mobile Global Championship (PMGC) is a huge date in the mobile esports calendar. 16 teams who have fought hard to make it to the Grand Finals will be battling it out across this coming weekend at London's ExCeL Centre.
For those 16 teams, a $3,000,000 prize pool is up for grabs — the largest-ever offered for esports in the UK. The event comes at the end of an unprecedented year for UK esports, with the country having hosted numerous S-Tier tournaments, including Counter-Strike's BLAST Premier Spring Finals, Dota 2’s ESL One, and League of Legends Worlds Grand Finals.
Last year’s PMGC Grand Finals, which saw Mongolian org IHC ESPORTS walk away with the trophy, hit nearly 1 million peak viewers, and saw over 31 million hours watched — a notable achievement for any mobile title. But, perhaps that's no surprise for a game like PUBG Mobile, one that has garnered over 1 billion downloads globally.
Like the original title, PUBG Mobile features a Battle Royale format where each team drops into a location to scout for weapons and equipment. They must then survive against the other teams, securing better loot, and fighting to be the last team left standing. All of this while avoiding the ever-closing storm circle.
Those that can't make it to London's ExCeL Centre to catch the action in person can watch along via the official PUBG Mobile Esports YouTube channel.
