What Happens To DogDay in Poppy Playtime Chapter 3

Poppy Playtime Chapter 3 brings back the popular character DogDay. Without revealing too many spoilers yet, DogDay goes through a lot in Chapter 3 - and players get to see him in a totally new light. The interactions players have with DogDay in this chapter say a lot not only about the character, but about the lore of the entire story. Here's our explanation of what happened to DogDay in Poppy Playtime Chapter 3, and what players can expect to see from the character in Chapter 4.

What Happens To DogDay in Poppy Playtime Chapter 3?

DogDay is one of the main characters of Poppy Playtime, and serves to tell players a lot of important information about their situation and the world of Poppy Playtime. In Chapter 3, we first meet him in a room where he's hanging by chains in a jail cell, with only half of his body intact. It's a gory scene, possibly the most gory in the game. 

Still hanging from his chains, DogDay speaks to the player, asking for help before reminding the player that there is actually nothing left to save. This, DogDay explains, is because CatNap is here helping the Prototype, who wishes death upon all the Smiling Critters. He also explains that the Mini Smiling Critters follow CatNap since CatNap feeds them, and that DogDay himself is the last Smiling Critter left at this point.

But, he isn't the last one left for long... as he finishes explaining his situation to the player, tiny Smiling Critters emerge from the walls suddenly and eat DogDay alive and possess him, causing him to fall to the floor and attack the player. He cries out, begging the player to "just leave," likely in hopes that they'll be okay if they get out as fast as they can.

Then, the now-fully possessed DogDay chases the player in one of the game's most intense chase scenes before he cries out - probably because he's either dead, or in the process of dying. It's a terrifying fate for DogDay, and may make Chapter 3 the goriest Poppy Playtime chapter yet.

Poppy Playtime Chapter 3 may have been the death of DogDay, but he's still a major character in the franchise. His death represents the terror inflicted by The Prototype and Catnap, as well as the total loss of the Smiling Critters. So, will DogDay return in Chapter 4? If the character is truly dead, then it seems unlikely that DogDay will come back in Chapter 4. However, it's possible that he could somehow return from the dead in a new form. Whether DogDay does actually return or not, his death and role in the series mains a major part of the lore.
