Spooky Plate in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, how to find

The Spooky Plate can make Ghost-type moves in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl extremely powerful.
Spooky Plate in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, how to find

Among the numerous held items in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, the Spooky Plate is among the few to help out Ghost-type moves. It’s one of several other plates in Sinnoh that help boost specific types of moves on a Pokémon that holds it. As the name would suggest, the Spooky Plate is meant to increase the power of Ghost-type moves.

The Ghost-type in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl has some great moves and Pokémon. However, as it always has been, Shadow Ball is the strongest Ghost-type move, with a base power of 90. While this is substantial when used with a Ghost-type Pokémon, it doesn’t match other types’ power. That is unless players have given the Spooky Plate for a Pokémon to hold.

Below, players can find out how to power up their Ghost-type moves.

In order to find the Spooky Plate, you’ll have to have advanced in the main story a bit. You need to make it to Hearthome City, which comes after defeating the Eterna City Gym Leader, Gardenia.

Once in Hearthome, you can travel to the northern side of the town to enter a separate part of the city. This is Amity Square, which lets you walk with a cute Pokémon. This can be your starter to make things easier. Once you begin walking with your Pokémon, you’ll need to go to the northern part of Amity Square.

Go to the right side of the northern part of Amity Square and you’ll see a Poké Ball inside one of two stone houses. This Poké Ball contains the Spooky Plate, which you can then give to a Pokémon to hold. Preferably, you give the plate to a Ghost-type Pokémon with a move like Shadow Ball to make full use of it. The Spooky Plate will power up any Ghost-type move by 50%.
