After the Pokémon 2020 competitive season kicked off earlier this month, the venue and dates for the World Championships have been revealed.
The Pokémon World Championships 2020 will take place at ExCeL London event centre from August 14-16, as confirmed in an official blog post.
This marks the first time the World Championships has been staged outside of North America, possibly due to the UK influence on Pokémon Sword and Shield.
ExCeL London has previously hosted Europe International Championships, although this year’s event will undoubtedly be even larger in scale.

The three-day event sees all the best Pokémon players across video games and trading cards compete to be crowned world champion – with games featured including Sword and Shield, Pokken Tournament and Pokémon GO.
If you fancy competing yourself, there’s still time. Players are invited to the World Championships by earning championship points at local events and rising through the leaderboards – with the top players selected. You can check out the closest events near you here.
The Pokémon World Championships 2020 will also see the Pokémon Center London make a return, so you’ll be able to grab a plethora of plushies once again (or stand for hours queuing).
